and so do i. (remember this song?) it being fall, it’s time for warm and hearty foods. oatmeal. stick it to your ribs. you will not regret it.
i made a sizeable amount, enough to do me for four breakfasts this week and several more in the next few weeks. it’s easy and cheaper than just about any other breakfast, aside from a piece of fruit.
makes a lot
3 cups rolled oats
1/3 cup skim milk powder
1/2 cup sunflower seeds or other nuts
2/3 cup golden raisins or other dried fruit
2 teaspoons cinnamon
pinch of salt
mix in a large container (pro-tip: mason jars are especially nice for this. or at least, pretty.)
to prepare: scoop 2/3 to 3/4 cup oatmeal into a bowl, or container of choice. add boiling hot water to barely cover. cover the oatmeal with a plate (or the lid of the container) and let stand for 3-4 minutes. stir. eat.
